On Saturday, 6 June 2026, the English Education Department Student Association (EEDSA) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), successfully organized an English Podcast program entitled “Talk and Inspire” under the theme “Have the Courage to Try and to Grow.” The activity took place at the UMSU Library and featured Sister Anjeli Wulandari from the Smart Faith Insani Team as the guest speaker.
Hosted by Aulia Putri J. Karo-Karo, the program was conducted in an engaging and interactive atmosphere. The English Podcast serves as one of EEDSA’s initiatives to provide students with opportunities to broaden their perspectives, enhance their communication skills, and gain inspiration from experienced speakers.
The event began with an opening session, followed by an introduction to the guest speaker and the objectives of the program. During the discussion, Sister Anjeli Wulandari shared valuable insights on personal growth, self-confidence, leadership, and the importance of embracing challenges as opportunities for learning and development.
She encouraged students to step beyond their comfort zones and remain open to new experiences. According to her, every challenge offers valuable lessons that contribute to personal and professional growth. She also emphasized that success is built through continuous learning, perseverance, consistency, and a willingness to improve.
Several important topics were explored throughout the session, including communication skills, teamwork, self-development, leadership, and maintaining a positive mindset when facing difficulties. The discussion provided practical lessons that participants could apply in both academic and everyday life.
The audience demonstrated strong enthusiasm throughout the event. Participants actively engaged in the discussion and question-and-answer session, creating meaningful interactions with the guest speaker and contributing to the dynamic atmosphere of the program.
Muhammad Sunrise Nahtity, Chairman of the English Education Department Student Association (EEDSA), expressed his appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the event.

Through Talk and Inspire, we aim to create a platform where students can gain inspiration, strengthen their confidence, and continue developing themselves both academically and personally. The English Education Study Program of FKIP UMSU also expressed its appreciation for the initiative. Dr. Pirman Ginting, S.Pd., M.Hum., Head of the English Education Study Program, highlighted the importance of student-led activities in supporting holistic student development.
“We highly appreciate EEDSA for organizing this inspiring activity. Programs such as Talk and Inspire provide students with valuable opportunities to develop communication skills, leadership, confidence, and critical thinking abilities. We hope this initiative will continue to grow and become a platform for students to learn, share ideas, and inspire one another,” he said.
Meanwhile, Selamat Husni Hasibuan, S.Pd., M.Hum., Ph.D., Secretary of the English Education Study Program, emphasized the educational value of extracurricular learning experiences.
“As an academic community, we strongly support student-led activities that complement classroom learning. Through programs like this podcast, students can practice authentic communication, broaden their perspectives, and strengthen the soft skills required for their future academic and professional careers. We are proud to see our students taking active roles in creating positive and meaningful learning experiences,” he remarked.
The success of the program reflects the strong commitment of EEDSA and the English Education Study Program to fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, creativity, and personal growth. The activity not only provided inspiration and motivation but also strengthened participants’ confidence in facing academic and life challenges.
Through the Talk and Inspire podcast series, EEDSA hopes to continue organizing educational and inspiring activities that empower students to develop their potential, improve their communication skills, and become confident, creative, and future-ready individuals.
