Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra together with ANTARA’s LKBN Corporation to collaborate in running the Certified Internship Program for students for six months as an effort to create quality and ready-to-use human resources.
Riza Mulyadi, Head of the North Sumatra Bureau of LKBN, said in Medan on Thursday that the cooperation was a follow-up of several previous meetings between the two parties regarding the Certified Internship Student Program (PMMB).
“The follow-up of the meeting in the near future will be the signing of the MoU between LKBN ANTARA and UMSU. As directed by the directors, we are ready to accommodate 10 to 15 students who will internship LKBN Intermediary Office between the North Sumatra Bureau, not only in the editorial office but also in administration and finance, “he said.
The Certified Internship Student Program is one of the five flagship programs of the Human Capital Indonesia Forum (FHCI). FHCI itself is a forum for human capital management and practitioners in the SOE environment to interact with each other, conduct learning and synergy to improve the competence of the nation’s children, which in the future are expected to create a “link and match” between the education curriculum at PTN / PTS with competency requirements in BUMN.
Riza also said, for now UMSU is the only university outside Java that has the opportunity to carry out a Certified Internship Student Program with the University of Indonesia and the Bogor Agricultural Institute.
The cooperation between the two parties is expected to not only be limited to the implementation of the apprenticeship program, but in the future it can be developed more widely in the form of journalistic training, seminars, and other academic activities.
“We are very open if our cooperation continues to be developed. UMSU is one of the largest private universities in North Sumatra, of course it is also a matter of pride for us to be able to work together, especially in terms of creating superior, smart and reliable human resources according to the college’s motto, “said Riza Mulyadi.
While the Chancellor of UMSU Dr. Agussani MAP said that his party greatly appreciated the cooperation and the MoU that would be carried out would later be assembled with a number of activities such as seminars and in the form of public lectures.
This cooperation will also be an added value for these universities, especially for the Faculty of Social Sciences, Politics which indeed has produced many alumni who not only work as journalists, but also occupy a number of important positions in government and private sector.
Agussani also stressed that the collaboration between UMSU and LKBN ANTARA is not the first, especially in terms of news and of course in the future it can be improved.
“We have prepared students who will be interning at ANTARA’s LKBN. Hopefully after the internship, our students will become more skilled and confident in entering the workforce, “he said.
